TV programme

Well the (un)famous TV programme got off well and though there were lots of things I would have wanted in there was little to complain about.

Here left are the two "experts" sent to revamp our B&B. Really what was wanted was me to finish of my "round house" el pronto. Talk about the last thing on my mind. I was run off my feet. Considering the stress at the time, I thought it went very well. I couldn't show the dam and micro-hydro or the council would be on to me and they didn't explain the Waste-Veggie-Oil burner, or my waste-paper briquette maker and the barrels were replaced with a 1T water butt but all in all ...... well .....That's Entertainment Folks The filming took place over about 10 weeks and I'm sure there were 100hrs of actual footage. In the middle of it all I had the BER course, was on the digging up of half my drive - after back filling in the huge hole big enough to bury a large car in I decided to be inventive hence subsequent "artwork" - 'Red River', I wasn't well, the Dutch "outlaws" were in and my mother died. Ah well back to obscurity now.

The accommodation is now closed, due in part to problems with the county council. But the Archery and Music Schools continue.

Glenribbeen Eco Lodge - accommodation is now alas closed.

Glenribbeen Eco Lodge, Lismore, County Waterford on a November's morn, 2009

We closed the accommodation in September of 2014 when the county council closed our access road without warning.

We haven't considered opening the accommodation since but still run the music and archery schools.

Bully for India.
But why can't westerners save rain and "grey" water???
I note that every summer people are fined, warned, excorciated for watering their cars, lawns, flowerbeds while 100's of liters/gals of shower, tap,sink, etc water goes down the drain. Why not simply put a soap-catcher (a tub in line with the flow, basicially ) and water all you want then???
The soap gets either scooped out for use as a carwash or put into compost (it's mostly veggie-oil and ash) or washed down the drain with the next rainstorm.
Get wise, get a tub. A few barrels too.!!

pfiddle go

So at 52yrs of ag I start my first rant/blog.
I've a few things on my mind.
Ok I'm on TV next week for 30 mins (minus ads etc) but that aside;

Why can't get rid of road tax??? Put 10%more on fuel charges and that's IT. No more idiotic traipsing of to the "motor tax office" to annoy (un)civil servants about the charges and the user pays. K.IS.S. keep it simple stupid. Free up the Civil Service to do something useful or retire altogether.
The savings will be huge and the user pays. Simple. It works elsewhere.
